Donating money
Our Centre Members are rebuilding their lives in the UK, surrounded by unfamiliar systems, far from family and friends. You can show your commitment to making them feel welcomed and supported by donating funds for our vital projects.
You can choose to make a one-off gift or sign up to give regularly. Regular, reliable income means we can plan for the future and develop dependable services for those that need it most.
Tip: If you are a UK tax payer, you can increase the value of your donation through the Gift Aid scheme. Please tick the Gift Aid box when making your donation. If you are planning to donate by bank transfer, please contact us and we can provide you with a Gift Aid form.
If you have any questions, then please get in contact with Les.
Donating items
We welcome the following good quality second-hand items:
- Phones, laptops and tablets: Our tech lab is run by Centre Members who refurbish and distribute items to help people learn English, complete school and college work, and stay in touch with loved ones. We can only accept phones and devices released after 2017, such as the iPhone X (10) or newer, because of factors like iOS updates and battery life.
- Bicycles: We refurbish donated bikes and loan them to adults and children. We also offer help learning to ride, provide locks, lights and helmets, bike maintenance classes and group bike rides. We are not currently accepting children’s bikes as most will sadly end up in long-term storage. However, Capital of Cycling and On Trak – based in Bradford – accept donations.
- Clothes and shoes. We always need adult shoes, trainers, and football boots as well as clothing. Please contact us before dropping off clothing as our storage space is limited. You can refer to the list below for our current clothing needs, as they vary by season.
We would also really appreciate the following items in new, excellent or very good condition:
- Men’s and women’s warm winter clothes (waterproof jackets, coats, jumpers)
- Jeans and trousers: for adults and teenagers
- Trainers and walking boots: for adults
- Football boots: men’s size 6-11
- Women’s sports clothes
- Clothes and shoes for children of all ages
- Underwear: men’s, women’s and children’s pants, bras and socks (NEW ONLY PLEASE)
- Suitcases and backpacks
- Toiletries: Empty shampoo bottles, toothbrushes and toothpaste, moisturiser, nail clippers, sanitary towels, new hair brushes and combs.
- Household items
To donate any of the above goods please contact Arsalan to arrange delivery or drop off at our centre from Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4 pm.
If you shop via our verified eBay page, proceeds will go directly to our centre.
Also, you can help by selling various items on behalf of our centre, just contact Paul for more details.
