At the end of last year we launched a fundraising campaign with the Aviva Community Fund. Donations up to the value of £250 were matched by Aviva to help us tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
Thanks to your incredible generosity we successfully raised just under £17,000, surpassing our initial target by 420%.
Sara Robinson, our centre director, says:
‘We are hugely grateful to the many kind folk across Calderdale and beyond for their generosity in donations, volunteering and general support to our community. We couldn’t do this without you.’
The money raised will support people fleeing war and persecution and seeking sanctuary in Calderdale. In In 2022, we supported 1447 people, providing hot meals, skills development, welfare and immigration advice, and a range of other support and wellbeing activities.
The government's backlog of undecided cases continues to mount whilst international crises this year have left many fleeing for their lives. This means that the number of people we support continues to expand.
We know the impact our services have on people, bringing back joy, hope and a sense of purpose - whether that's through our art classes, friendly chats with a Befriender, mental health support, or a free hot meal at our Cafe.
From the bottom of our hearts - thank you for your support!
