Recently, a group of centre members embarked on a journey to the picturesque Yorkshire Dales. Amidst the countryside landscape, the group engaged in an array of activities. From hiking to engaging in arts and crafts, group games, and the joy of cooking and eating together, this weekend was one to remember. But it didn't stop there; they even ventured into the world of abseiling, conquering their fears and pushing their boundaries.

Mark, one of our volunteers, said:

"It was great company, with wonderful shared cooking time, walking together in a green countryside, board games, laughter, smiles, and bonhomie."

"I'll never abseil again…probably…apart from when I go next time!"

The Yorkshire Dales provided not only a stunning backdrop but also an opportunity for our group to build strong bonds and new friendships. As ACross Country reported:

"Along the way, we get to know each other, and ourselves in new ways. Walking in the dark, our steps take on a shared rhythm, and we sense where the other needs a hand. Conversations blossom; it can be so much easier to speak of the things that matter walking side by side in the dark."

"At the top, we crossed the stile…The last one across enjoys the moment, 'I'm free,' they exclaimed to us."

The abseiling adventure challenged the team in unexpected ways. Each descent down the abseil was a testament to the group's determination and the support they offered one another.

"The walk and landscape seem to reflect and express our lives and past journeys," ACross Country remarked, highlighting the powerful connection between the natural world and our personal stories.

"Our weekend of adventure concluded with a heartwarming circle outside. We placed thanks and hopes into a precious bowl, with each person speaking in their chosen language. We held and treasured each other's prayers and dreams, then combined them and each took a share to sustain us for the future."

As we reflect on the weekend, we extend our thanks to ACross Country, who made this experience possible. We also want to thank all of our volunteers who gave their time to ensure that this adventure was a success.
